Hair Color Ideas for Short Haircuts

Hair Color Ideas for Short Haircuts
Get beautiful hair color ideas for short haircuts for a head-turning look! Choose the best hair color shades and coloring technique for your short hair style and get the scoop on the latest hair color trends for 2010!
Short hairstyles need to be trimmed regularly which make hair damage less of a problem, meaning you can afford to experiment more with different color effects, especially with bold, bright shades.
For short haircuts the best hair color option is the all-over, block shade.
Regular highlights can look weird and unbalanced on shorter hairstyles, that’s why the coloring technique called ‘glazing’ is used where random sections of hair are backcombed and a toner is placed on the rest of the hair. The result is more subtle than by other highlighting techniques.
Short hairstyles fall into two categories, bold geometric crops and layered, textured haircuts. Stronger, geometric haircuts suit bold, all-over coloring to complement and emphasize their graphic shapes and strong lines. While textured, layered short haircuts work well with thick slices of different shades. (see examples above)
Light, all-over coloring will create great texture on short hairstyles, while dark shades will add strength and give the illusion of thickness to the cut.
2010 Hair Color Trends
Blonde
For 2010 the high-gloss golden blonde shades move towards muted and matte blondes – think muted mink, sandy blonde shades that are more like rock’n'roll rather than glossy Hollywood red carpet. These blondes are adaptable to any skin tone, making them very wearable and perfect if you’ve never tried blonde hair color before.
Red
Why go red of you’re going to be shy about it? There’s a whole new spectrum of red shades for 2010 out there: vivid, fiery, full-on rends like cherry, blood-orange, vibrant strawberry blonde and deep aubergine – this year red will be more striking than ever. Stronger orange-based red shades work best on pale skin tones, but warmer skin tones can suit red shades too – go for a darker mahogany, auburn and deep plum shades. The deeper shades will suit you if you have hazel, green or brown eyes.
Brown
In 2010 dark hair color shades are really brought to life. From rich marmite brown and deep mahogany to glossy maroon or burnt toffee, the new color palette is very striking. Look for underlying warmth for a lustruous glow when choosing shades this season. Warm skin tones should opt for clay shades, while cool skin tones work best with bitter chocolate and ash tones.

2010 Runway Hair – Messy Updos
For 2010 messy updos are a big trend and the best thing is that they couldn’t be easier to style at home. Get inspiration from the Chanel and Lanvin 2010 spring looks with tips and tricks to style your version of the fashion updo.
The look is not a ‘bad hair’ day look, but more a ‘controlled’ updo, with lots of texture and movement. In order to create your version of the messy updo follow these guidelines.
All you need is your fingers, a comb, some hair styling products, snag-free hair elastics and a few bobby pins. Before you would jump into the ‘messy’ business, prepare your tresses for the ‘do.
Use a shine-boosting shampoo suitable for your hair color to give your hair a luxurious glow. Blow-dry hair smooth using a nozzle on your blow-dryer for maximum shine.
Once your hair is totally dry, sweep it into a high pony and secure with a snag-free hair elastic.
Then gently tease the pony in sections and blast with hairspray. Then wind the teased pony around to form a puffy bun and secure at the base.
To do the Chanel look, gather hair into a ponytail using your hands rather than a brush for a more disheveled look, and secure with an elastic.
Then grab sections of the pony twist and secure with a bobby pin around the base of the ponytail. Use hair accessories to add a feminine touch and will dress up your messy updo and keep it sultry with a few loose, face-framing tendrils.

Versus Spring 2010 Collection

Versus Spring 2010 Collection
When it comes to fashion, rebranding is sometimes the best idea one could have. Donatella Versace launching Versus yet again after many years of fashion-silence, in collaboration with Christopher Kane, was one of those great ideas. Versus spring 2010 collection was presented at Milan Fashion Week and it definitely represented a great success.
“It’s a young collection,” said Donatella about the recent line of clothes, and the truth is that Christopher Kane’s influence and perspective is genial and fresh. And the most beautiful thing is the capacity to mix different periods of time, but it seems it’s not impossible, since the designer inserted in the collection vintage Versus accessories, just like that pair of sunglasses made ten years ago.
The Versus spring 2010 collection comes in simple, yet intense colors: mostly black, red and a neutral tone, leaving all the strength, power and statement to go to the designer’s cuts, details and fabrics. Essentially, the collection was divided into few categories: rock’n’roll looks, cocktail dresses, body-conscious dresses, feminine and sensual, and embellished designs which screamed luxury and self-confidence.
