2010 Runway Hair – Messy Updos

For 2010 messy updos are a big trend and the best thing is that they couldn’t be easier to style at home. Get inspiration from the Chanel and Lanvin 2010 spring looks with tips and tricks to style your version of the fashion updo.

The look is not a ‘bad hair’ day look, but more a ‘controlled’ updo, with lots of texture and movement. In order to create your version of the messy updo follow these guidelines.
All you need is your fingers, a comb, some hair styling products, snag-free hair elastics and a few bobby pins. Before you would jump into the ‘messy’ business, prepare your tresses for the ‘do.

Use a shine-boosting shampoo suitable for your hair color to give your hair a luxurious glow. Blow-dry hair smooth using a nozzle on your blow-dryer for maximum shine.
Once your hair is totally dry, sweep it into a high pony and secure with a snag-free hair elastic.
Then gently tease the pony in sections and blast with hairspray. Then wind the teased pony around to form a puffy bun and secure at the base.

To do the Chanel look, gather hair into a ponytail using your hands rather than a brush for a more disheveled look, and secure with an elastic.
Then grab sections of the pony twist and secure with a bobby pin around the base of the ponytail. Use hair accessories to add a feminine touch and will dress up your messy updo and keep it sultry with a few loose, face-framing tendrils.

Gucci Galaxy Medium Shoulder Bags

We’re all very aware that, when it comes to accessories, choosing between the right and the wrong bag might just do the difference. That’s why designers have thought well before releasing the “it” bag of the season. Gucci surely thought well, as for the fall 2009 it released the Gucci Galaxy medium shoulder bags, beautiful crafted classic piece of work.

Gucci’s Galaxy handbag ($2,995) isn’t at all galactic, au contraire; it looks classic, but still combining modern and sophisticated features. Crafted from rich black leather, combined with black patent leather trim, Galaxy bag is available in two colors: one features black leather with black crocodile trim while the other is metallic magenta leather.
The first model is a “classic beauty”, while the magenta one is more stylish, feminine and sexy. They both look great!

This bag (26.5 x 13 x 36 cm – perfect for daily use) features a single chain strap and an interlock G detail (Gucci wouldn’t be the same without its logo…), zip top closure, an inside zip, and pockets specially designed for modern gadgets (mobile phones, PDA, cards).
The leather handles are braided, making them look like they’re made of some acrylic chain.

There is also a dark blue shaded python with black patent leather model, a more luxurious version of the classic Galaxy bag, a very harmonious combination between plexiglass, ruthenium hardware and the appealing python leather.

Versus Spring 2010 Collection

Versus Spring 2010 Collection

When it comes to fashion, rebranding is sometimes the best idea one could have. Donatella Versace launching Versus yet again after many years of fashion-silence, in collaboration with Christopher Kane, was one of those great ideas. Versus spring 2010 collection was presented at Milan Fashion Week and it definitely represented a great success.

“It’s a young collection,” said Donatella about the recent line of clothes, and the truth is that Christopher Kane’s influence and perspective is genial and fresh. And the most beautiful thing is the capacity to mix different periods of time, but it seems it’s not impossible, since the designer inserted in the collection vintage Versus accessories, just like that pair of sunglasses made ten years ago.

The Versus spring 2010 collection comes in simple, yet intense colors: mostly black, red and a neutral tone, leaving all the strength, power and statement to go to the designer’s cuts, details and fabrics. Essentially, the collection was divided into few categories: rock’n’roll looks, cocktail dresses, body-conscious dresses, feminine and sensual, and embellished designs which screamed luxury and self-confidence.

Alexander Wang Spring 2010 Collection

Alexander Wang’s fashion show was definitely a hot spot during New York Fashion Week. No wonder, as the designer is hot, and all the celebrities in the front row surely proved it. Anna Wintour, Rachel McAdams, Nina Garcia, DVF, Terry Richardson, Tavi, Jen Brill, and our all time favorite, the Sartorialist, Scott Schumann.

For the approaching spring season, designer Alexander Wang had in mind a certain back-to-school vision. School girls were re-imagined in letter jackets and knee-highs, along with the black-and-mesh look that became his signature over the time.

From soft grays and neutral tones in which the fashion show begun, Wang quickly passed on to his favorite all time color: black. The collection included strong-shouldered sweat shirts, shirts striped in red and white lines, extremely short tight miniskirts, lots and lots of boxy vests and jackets.

The accessories chosen to match the collection were in line with the present common sense of fashion: zippered sandal boots, heels covered in leopard prints and mesh transparent long button-downs, along with lace-up closures.
This heavy-hitter collection was definitely worth to be there, as Wang practically re-invented himself again, as he always does, each line he creates.

L.A.M.B by Gwen Stefani Spring Summer 2010 Collection

New York Fashion Week. Everybody wants to be there and just enjoy all of the great fashion shows, including L.A.M.B.’s collection for spring 2010. Gwen Stefani’s label has managed to stay the same as we all know it, gorgeous, fresh and a must-have among fashion lovers.

The L.A.M.B 2010 spring collection it’s definitely an impressive one! It really screams refreshing and success, due to all the clean-cut tailored pieces with a high energy dose of urban detailing. With an African slash eighties reference pointing out, the collection has, no doubt about it, a rocker chic edge. Large pieces of fabrics literally flow in this collection in a great balance with all the leather biker jackets, zippers and tartan inserted.

The L.A.M.B. Spring 2010 collection is very eclectic in a very Gwen Stefani manner. If this means combining feminine off-the-shoulder dresses with harem panties, so be it!

There are also other items that made us fell in love, attitude- tunics, and lots of pleated items, even kilts, diaper dresses or those cargo pants we just can’t stop thinking about.

What made this collection a real success was Stefani’s ability to combine and naturally match two kinds of wearing clothes: some of them were just loose while there were many tailored pieces; but the combination is truly amazing.

The sky-high shoes and the simple make-up, matched with edgy hair up-dos did nothing but complimenting an already extraordinary line of clothes signed by the beautiful singer slash designer Gwen Stefani.

The Season’s Hottest Designer Handbags

The Season’s Hottest Designer Handbags

One hot accessory – in this case a trendy handbag – can definitely change everything, everyone’s perspective on our looks. If you are looking to feel right about your choices in accessories, mostly in handbags, let’s see what the season’s hottest designer handbags, trends and highlights.

As mentioned many times before, this past season an older trend is making its comeback. The ’80s are back with all their opulence, glam, bold candy colors and some pleated and quilted designs.
Designers like Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu quickly applied this new and re-interpreted perspective into ’80s inspired handbags.

What’s hot this season? Rough rocker chic, high shine or metallic themes, animal prints – the Balmain Suede Baby Punk shoulder bag, the Marc Jacobs Wrath Studded leather bag, the D&G Crystal Covered Vlada bag, the Coach Studded Sabrina, etc.

Textured handbags are definitely crazy this fall, no wonder that many designers insist on twisted leather pleating, bold stitching and sparkling stones. Marc Jacobs did it in his St. Marks Stam Satchel, or the Valentino Kaleido Tote.

(left: Balmain Suede Baby Punk shoulder bag, Marc Jacobs Wrath Studded leather bag, middle: Valentino Kaleido Gem Embellished Tote, right: D&G Crystal Covered Vlada bag, Coach Studded Sabrina)

Bold colors are awesome, also inspired by the 80’s and the 90’s chromatic colors.
After all, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors include several hobos, totes and satchels in bold eye-catching colors.

(clockwise: Marc Jacobs Fuchsia Quilted Leather Hobo, Michael Kors Neon Patent Leather clutches, Louis Vuitton Monogram Double Jeu Neo bag, Fendi Beaded Baguette bag, Gucci Oxidized Icon Bit bag and Valentino Paillette-Embellished Tote)

Clutches are maybe the universal accessory, very handy at any time.
That’s why we strongly recommend clutches – encrusted with gemstones, embellished with sequins, made of luxurious materials.
They can be the key-element that can turn you into the most chic or glamorous woman.

(clockwise: top Rodo Rigid Crystal clutch, Diane Von Furstenberg Hayworth clutch, Valentino Beaded-Embroided Satin clutch, Gucci Python Journal clutch, Vera Wang Niki bag and Givenchy Mini clutch)

Metal chains and studs details, metallic sheen, it’s all permitted.
So don’t be afraid to express yourself in any way you want, because, when it comes to handbags, you can have it all! Have fun!
